The Pump Station's private lactation consultations offer personalized support for achieving your family's feeding goals. Our International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLCs) provide expert guidance, compassionate care, and practical solutions to help you overcome challenges and feed your baby with confidence. Consultations are available at our beautiful lactation office above our store at 2727 Main Street or in the comfort of your home, so you can choose the option that feels right for you.
For more than 40 years, The Pump Station has been supporting families through every stage of infant feeding and early parenthood. Our founder, Corky Harvey, MS, RN, IBCLC, built UCLA's lactation program, creating a legacy of expert, family-centered care that remains at the heart of everything we do today.
During your consultation, your IBCLC will assess your concerns, answer your questions, and develop an individualized plan designed to help you meet your goals with confidence.
Your Private Consultation Includes:
- Review of maternal and infant medical history
- Infant feeding assessment, including pre and post-feed weights when appropriate
- Infant oral assessment
- Breast and nipple assessment
- Evaluation and adjustment of positioning and latch as needed
- Feeding observation
- Pumping assessment, including flange sizing and pump settings as needed
- Personalized care plan with detailed recommendations
- Referrals to additional healthcare providers when indicated
Here are common reasons families schedule a consultation:
- Low milk supply or oversupply
- Latch difficulties
- Nipple trauma or breast pain, plugged ducts, mastitis
- Tongue ties, lip ties, and other oral restrictions
- Bottle feeding and paced bottle feeding
- Need for supplementation
- Feeding multiples
- Adoptive parent feeding
- Returning to work while breastfeeding
- Weaning and feeding transitions
Private consultation fees vary depending on the type of visit and services provided.
· In-office fees range from $175-300 per visit
· In-home fees range from $275-400 per visit. This includes travel fees to account for distance and commute time.
As an added benefit, families who book a consultation with a member of our team receive 10% off most breastfeeding and baby care supplies purchased in our store on the day of their appointment. Your consultant can help you identify products that may support your unique feeding goals and make your breastfeeding journey a little easier.
Insurance Coverage
Your in-office or in-home lactation consultation may be covered by insurance.
The Pump Station has partnered with Milk Wise to help families access lactation care through their insurance benefits. Their dedicated patient care team will verify your coverage and determine whether services with Pump Station lactation consultants may be eligible under your plan.
