Babyproofing Checklist for Expectant Parents

Get your home ready for baby with help from your handyman team!

•       Anchor heavy furniture (dressers, bookshelves, TVs) to prevent tip-over
•          Install baby gates at stairways or room entrances
•         Secure cabinet locks and drawer latches in kitchens, bathrooms, and laundry rooms
•         Cover sharp furniture corners with cushioned edge protectors
•          Install outlet covers or sliding plug protectors throughout the home
•          Mount cord cleats or wraps for window blinds and curtains to prevent strangulation hazards
•          Adjust crib or changing table placement away from windows, cords, or heaters
•          Add door pinch guards or soft-close hardware to avoid finger pinches
•          Install toilet seat locks in bathrooms
•          Reinforce safety gates or play yard enclosures to ensure secure fit and stability
•          Check smoke detectors to ensure they’re working properly
•          Install black out shades in nursery or other nap areas
