Classes Now Offered On-line via Zoom!
There is a lot of confusion as to the best time to begin complimentary foods, which foods to start with and why, as well as whether to use purees or chunky foods. Many pediatricians are often divided in their recommendations. “Real Food Baby” offers guidelines for introducing complementary foods based on your child’s sensory readiness – how it feels, smells, tastes, and appears in different sizes, shapes, and colors. The basics of “baby led weaning” are offered along with an option of transitioning with soft or chunky purees. Specific instructions for introducing foods to lower the risk of allergies, timing of meals and portion sizes, active solid feeding with spoons or fingers, is included, along with menus from 6 to 12 months for breastfed or formula fed babies. A repetitive sequencing of savory foods for the first 60 days ensures against creating a "sweet tooth" or fussy eater in the months ahead.
