Stroller Traffic: The Daddy Panel

Flashback 1960's - moms in labor, where's Dad?? Generally speaking, in the waiting room with friends handing out cigars. This is the visual we are constantly shown in the media.

Today - Dad's are boldly stating "I'm the Daddy!" while donning their DaddyScrubs in delivery rooms all over the country.

What's changed?

Well to start, Dad's are taking a much more active role in helping support Moms both before and after baby is born, and Moms are eternally grateful for this. For over 25 years The Pump Station & Nurtury has been offering Breastfeeding, Baby Care and CPR classes for expectant parents. They've always encouraged dads to attend and support mom in this challenging and exciting time. They are often asked "Why does Dad need to attend?" - their response - Research shows that when Dads step in and help the benefits to mom, baby and family are tremendous. Among these, is a lower risk of mom developing Post Partum Depression. The AAP recommends exclusive breastfeeding for the first 6 months of life. This is more likely to occur if the dad is aware of the critical importance of his support to the breastfeeding mother during the early postpartum weeks. In an effort to better inform Dads as to how they can help mom, The Pump Station & Nurtury will be hosting "Daddy Panels" in its Santa Monica and Hollywood stores in May. These panels will be hosted in conjunction with Pregnancy Awareness Month® (PAM) The Pump Station. PAM is celebrated annually in May. The mission is to empower, inspire and build a community of support for expectant women and families with a variety of events across the country. Check the PAM website for a schedule of events.

These Panels will be moderated by Robert Nickell founder of Daddy Scrubs in The Pump Station Santa Monica Store on Thursday May 9th and Hollywood Store on Thursday May 16th.
